ART TO THE FACE — No. 25
A brand-new weekly sketchbook feature on the FWACATA Substack
What this is: a living sketchbook—monsters, metal, Miami→El Paso chaos—plus the messy notes, bad ideas, and the few good ones that survive. Every issue collects WIPs, process shots, and quick riffs that later become finished pages, prints, or tees.
Why here: I want the work and the why of the work in the same place you read me. No algorithms, just art + story.

This week’s spread (No. 25)
Process mantra: Lay the darks with confidence, earn your mid-tones, bless the highlights sparingly.

Notes from the bench
Paint vs. markers: Painted cards sing on portraits; busy scenes behave better with alcohol markers + tight line.
White charcoal glow: Only after the wash dries. If you rush it, you’ll mud the bloom.
Reference wrangling: Coat from one ref, posture from another—composite first, then commit the inks.

What patrons get (deep-dive extras)
HD scans of this issue’s pages (printable).
Time-lapse + brush list + layered files for the Harley/Lambo piece.
First dibs + discount codes on new painted sketchcards.
If you want the full vault, hop to Patreon. If you’re happy with the weekly read + images, staying here is perfect too.
